Nolan Wells’ case expands with a third threat arrest as people tied to his final outing raise money and retain lawyers.
Nolan Wells‘ death investigation has produced another arrest after federal agents accused an Illinois man of threatening two witnesses and their families.
A federal complaint detailed by TMZ charges Edward James Porter, 40, with sending threats across state lines on July 31.
Investigators claim Porter promised to kill one witness and their family, texted their home address and later said he was waiting outside.
He allegedly threatened to kill another witness, cut up the person’s body and place the remains inside a suitcase.

His arrest follows federal cases against Michelle Francine Edwards and Joseph Alfredo Vasquez Dumarce over alleged threats against Mississippi officials.
That rising danger has pushed several people linked to Wells’ final outing toward lawyers, fundraising and possible defamation cases.
Warren Hudson, Jax Pitalo and Morgan Seymour have raised more than $100,000 for legal expenses, while former teammate Bart Edmiston Jr. retained attorney Russell Latino.
“This is not about silencing legitimate discussion or respectful disagreement. People are free to ask questions and express opinions. This is about drawing a line against defamation, targeted harassment, threats of violence, doxxing, intimidation, and coordinated campaigns that destroy lives before the facts are known,” the fundraiser states.
“Let me be abundantly clear, Bart Edmiston Jr. did not kill or in any way contribute to the tragic death of Nolan Wells. He had no motive to do so. All he did was help a boat that was in distress,” Latino said.
AllHipHop previously reported that Wells disappeared during a July 4 gathering on Horn Island before searchers recovered his body two days later.
His mother, Christine Wonsley, keeps demanding answers as nobody has been charged and officials continue reviewing the 18-year-old’s final hours.
“Please understand that all of these distractions, these other questions, attacks that people have sent our way, just know, we will not be distracted. We are ready to do whatever we need to do as his parents to continue advocating for him because Nolan is not here. He is not here to speak for himself. He is not here to tell us what happened,” Wonsley said. “So again, we will not rest until we get answers.”
Investigators will present their completed findings to a grand jury, which will decide whether evidence supports any charges connected to Wells’ death.
