EXCLUSIVE: 50 Cent’s Battle With Ex Over $1 Million Life Rights Is Ready For Judge Intervention

50 Cent and Shaniqua Tompkins head to court early as a judge weighs defenses in their bitter $1 million life-rights dispute.
50 Cent‘s $1 million life-rights fight with Shaniqua Tompkins reaches a judge sooner than expected.
A newly filed court calendar moves oral arguments from January 12, 2027, to September 22, 2026, at 11 A.M. in Manhattan.
Justice Robert Reed will consider G-Unit Books’ effort to dismiss Tompkins’ defenses and counterclaims, not decide the entire lawsuit that morning.
AllHipHop first reported the case in July 2025 after Tompkins began sharing stories through her Instagram Live series, The Unspoken.

G-Unit claims a 2007 contract gave the company exclusive rights to her life story for an $80,000 advance and promised royalties. The company accused Tompkins of wrecking those rights after she discussed 50 Cent, their son Marquise and their relationship online.
Tompkins alleged 50 Cent hit her while pregnant, then told a friend why she finally ended their relationship.
“The last straw for me was he hit me in front of my daughter. And I said, as a mother, if I allowed her to see him hit me and stay with him, what example am I setting for my daughter? And that was it,” Tompkins said.
Tompkins responded to the lawsuit by claiming she received only $35,000 and signed the agreement under pressure from 50 Cent’s business circle. Another defense reaches back to 2005, when Tompkins says Get Rich or Die Tryin’ paperwork triggered a confrontation at Violator’s offices.
“When he looked at it and saw that I signed ‘Jane Doe,’ he grabbed me by the hair, dragged to the other end of the office, pushed me to the floor and started choking me telling me that he will hurt and embarrass me right there at the offices of Violator Records if I didn’t sign,” Tompkins alleged.
His legal team says that story is false and belongs to a 2005 movie agreement, not the 2007 book deal before Reed.
“Although Tompkins’ pleading contains (false) allegations that Jackson threatened force to coerce her into signing a prior agreement, it is not the agreement that is at issue in this action,” attorney Lisa Coyle wrote.
The court’s March ruling kept the fight alive by rejecting G-Unit’s request to prevail automatically and allowing Tompkins to respond.
