Kanye West’s Algarve concert proceeds as Israel’s ambassador condemns Portugal and calls the rapper’s appearance hate speech.

Kanye West caught a diplomatic broadside Friday as Israel’s ambassador to Portugal demanded his Algarve stadium concert be canceled.

Euronews reports Ambassador Oren Rozenblat also ripped Portugal for hosting the rapper despite his history of antisemitic and pro-Nazi statements.

Rozenblat wrote, according to Euronews: “Someone who glorified Hitler, promoted antisemitism and claimed that slavery was a choice, a remark that deeply offended millions of descendants of slavery’s victims. This is not provocation, it is hate speech.”

Rozenblat said his embassy asked Faro’s mayor to halt the August 7 show and urged the public to stay away.

In the same statement published by Euronews, Rozenblat asked: “Would you buy a ticket for an artist who promoted hatred against Black people, against Muslims, against Christians or against LGBT people? If the answer is no, why should it be any different when the target is Jews?”

Rozenblat called the concert “a disgrace for Portugal and for the Portuguese” in the statement while distinguishing antisemitism from criticism of Israel.

Concert organizer Torcato Jorge dismissed demands to cancel and said Portuguese security services found no reason to bar West.

Jorge told Euronews: “It is a music event that is going ahead. It would become an issue if the security services identified a national threat to public order, which is not the case. The SIS has not identified the artist, or in this case the US citizen, as a national threat or a terrorist. There has to be an internal state security report saying that this citizen cannot enter the country.”

The fight arrives after five European countries disrupted or eliminated Ye dates during 2026, though their actions were not legally identical.

Britain revoked his electronic travel authorization, declaring his presence contrary to the public good and forcing Wireless Festival to cancel three headline appearances.

France opposed Marseille until West postponed it; Poland canceled Chorzów; Switzerland rejected Basel; and Italy banned Reggio Emilia over security concerns.

That hard line stopped at several borders, because West still performed in the United States, Turkey, the Netherlands, Albania and Spain.

His sold-out SoFi Stadium comeback drew 70,000 people, while Istanbul reportedly attracted 118,000 and a Dutch court allowed two Arnhem concerts.

West’s official tour schedule lists Almaty on August 14, New Orleans on August 28, and stadium shows in Chicago on September 3 and September 4.

The tour is scheduled to reach Jakarta’s Gelora B### Karno Stadium for its October 24 finale.
