Faith Evans Loses Major Ruling in Notorious B.I.G. Estate Fight

Wayne Barrow’s trust just secured control over Biggie’s catalog in a Delaware court ruling that leaves Faith Evans on the losing end of a major legal battle.
Wayne Barrow just won a major court battle over control of the Notorious B.I.G.’s catalog, and it’s a massive loss for Faith Evans.
According to Bloomberg Law, a Delaware judge ruled that the trust controlled by Barrow, which holds assets from Biggie’s late mother Voletta Wallace, is a legitimate member of the LLC that co-owns the rapper’s music catalog and likeness rights.
This means Evans can’t keep Barrow and the Wallace estate locked out of the money flowing from the Primary Wave Music deal.
The whole situation stems from what happened after Primary Wave acquired a 50% stake in Biggie’s catalog in February 2025, right around the time Voletta Wallace passed away.

Barrow claims Evans seized control of the business and refused to distribute the Wallace trust’s share of the proceeds.
Judge Kathaleen St. J. McCormick opened her ruling by quoting Biggie’s own lyrics from “Ten Crack Commandments,” which warned to keep family and business completely separated.
Evans tried to get the Delaware case paused while a separate will challenge plays out in Pennsylvania, where Biggie’s children are claiming Barrow manipulated their grandmother into naming him trustee and executor.
But McCormick rejected that argument, ruling that the two cases involve independent legal issues that can be resolved separately.
The judge made clear that whether Barrow keeps his role as trustee in Pennsylvania doesn’t change the fact that the Wallace trust is a member of the LLC, period.
The Primary Wave deal was reportedly worth around $100 million and gave the company stakes in Biggie’s music, name, and likeness. Biggie himself, also known as Christopher Wallace, became a legend in the mid-1990s with tracks like “Juicy” and “Big Poppa” before his unsolved 1997 drive-by shooting.
