Druski transformed a quick notice casting call in Washington into a packed showcase that put the region’s rising talent front and center.
Druski turned a last-minute audition into a citywide moment in northeast DC this weekend as hundreds of artists packed the area hoping to earn a shot with his Could’ve Been Records platform.
The comedian and online personality gave just 24 hours’ notice before calling for talent, yet rappers, singers, dancers and content creators showed up in waves.
Lines formed early and stretched across the block as hopefuls waited for their turn.
The event fell under Druski’s parody label, Could’ve Been Records, known for staging surprise American Idol-style showcases that blend humor with raw ambition.
What began as a casting call shifted into a meet-up for the wider DMV creative scene. When Druski stepped onto the scene, the noise level climbed fast. Cheers echoed through the crowd as phones shot into the air to capture the moment.
Performers rotated in and out, each given a brief window to prove they belonged on the roster.
The gathering reflected the growing pull of creator-driven talent hunts, a format that mirrors the national appetite for televised competitions.
Shows built on open auditions have long shaped pop culture, but last weekend centered on local pride.
Many participants said the real reward came from visibility. Even those who left without a callback treated the packed turnout as proof that northeast DC can command attention on its own.
The weekend starts a busy month for Druski, who is set to host the 2026 BET Awards live on Sunday, June 28.
