Donald Trump-Pardoned Rioter Jake Lang Flees BET Awards Confrontation

Jake Lang shows up to protest the BET Awards and immediately gets chased away by counterprotesters who weren’t having any of his rhetoric.
Jake Lang showed up outside the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on June 28 with a small crew and signs that read “Black Parents are Failures,” ready to make noise during the 2026 BET Awards.
What he didn’t anticipate was the immediate and overwhelming response from counterprotesters who had zero interest in hearing his message.
Video footage from the scene shows the far-right activist surrounded by a growing crowd of people who weren’t having it.
They chased him away from the venue while repeatedly calling him out for his presence and rhetoric.
Lang’s attempt to disrupt one of Black culture’s biggest celebrations backfired spectacularly, and he ended up running for his life.
Lang claimed he was “nearly murdered” and that someone smashed a glass bottle over his face, cutting him badly.
However, the actual video evidence tells a different story. There’s no glass bottle visible in any of the footage, and while he was definitely confronted and chased, the severity of his injuries doesn’t match his dramatic retelling.
He’s been known to exaggerate situations before, so this tracks with his pattern.
What makes this incident particularly notable is the timing. Lang had just been released from prison on bail after being arrested for making terroristic threats against Carmelo Anthony.
He’s wearing a GPS monitor and was ordered by a judge to stay out of Texas while awaiting trial. Yet here he is, traveling across the country to antagonize people at major events.
This isn’t his first rodeo with counterprotesters shutting him down.
Earlier this year, he organized an anti-Muslim rally in Minneapolis that drew hundreds of counterdemonstrators who chased him away from the city.
He’s also running as a Republican candidate for Florida’s U.S. Senate seat in 2026, which means he’s trying to build a political profile while simultaneously getting chased out of public spaces.
Lang was pardoned by Trump in 2025 for his role in the January 6 Capitol riot, where he served four years in prison on assault charges.
Since his release, he’s become a fixture in right-wing activism circles, organizing provocative demonstrations that consistently draw massive counterprotests.
The BET Awards incident is just the latest example of how his antagonistic approach keeps putting him in situations where he’s outnumbered and outmatched.
