California man wants to take woman on date, offers to pay for her day off work. Then he gets an Apple request: ‘Bring me an application’

A Los Angeles man posted a humorous video in which he mentioned that a woman he was talking to made $3,000 a day at her job. Now, viewers are eager to learn how they can secure her position.

On July 25, Matt Rhoades (@matt.rh) posted the humorous video about a woman’s daily pay, which has amassed 1.2 million views as of this writing.

Why Did He Get an Apple Cash Request for $3,000?

“Was trying to hang with this girl yesterday, but she said she had work,” he said. “I said I’d pay for her day off, and she Apple requested $3,000.”

He then joked that now he wanted that job: “Baby, go clock in and bring me an application.”

The video had many questioning what her job might be, as well as wondering how rare a job that pays that high might be in this economy.

What Jobs Might Pay $3,000 Per Day?

A job that pays $3,000 a day sits far above what most Americans earn. Assuming a standard five-day workweek, that rate equals roughly $780,000 a year before taxes. By comparison, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported median weekly earnings of $1,251 for full-time workers during the second quarter of 2026. That works out to about $65,000 a year, making a $3,000 daily rate more than 11 times the earnings of a typical full-time worker.

Very few jobs offer that kind of compensation through salary alone. Most Americans never reach that income level during their careers. Positions that can approach or exceed it usually include chief executives, elite physicians, partners at major law firms, hedge fund managers, successful entrepreneurs, entertainers, or top-performing sales professionals with large commissions.

Salary ranges also vary widely across industries. Healthcare, finance, technology, and executive management continue to offer some of the nation’s highest pay. Education, hospitality, retail, and many service occupations generally pay much less. Additionally, workers in expensive metropolitan areas often earn higher wages than workers in rural regions, although higher living costs can offset much of that advantage.

How Rare Might a $3,000 Per Day Job Be?

Data shows the top 10% of full-time workers earned at least $2,924 per week in the second quarter of 2026. That equals roughly $152,000 annually. A worker making $3,000 every day at their job would still earn several times more than that threshold.

Men and women also continue to earn different amounts on average. According to the latest BLS data, women working full-time earned a median of $1,131 per week during the second quarter of 2026. Men earned $1,380 per week. That means women’s median weekly earnings equaled about 82% of men’s. The size of the gap varies by race, occupation, education, and industry, but wage differences remain a persistent feature of the U.S. labor market.
