Goodie Mob steps into film as executive producers on “Thomasville,” bringing Atlanta’s demolished neighborhood story to the screen.
Goodie Mob is stepping behind the camera for the first time, joining the award-winning short film “Thomasville” as executive producers and bringing their decades of socially conscious storytelling to independent cinema.
The legendary Atlanta group, comprising T-Mo, Khujo, Big Gipp, and CeeLo Green, announced a partnership with filmmaker Alex Woodruff’s drama, which has already earned major festival recognition, including Best Drama at the San Jose International Short Film Festival and Best African American Film at the Cleveland International Film Festival.
“Thomasville” exposes the city’s controversial Red Dog police era, gentrification, and generational trauma through the lens of the demolished Thomasville Heights housing project in Southeast Atlanta.

The film stars Jay Jones from “P-Valley” and Stephen Ruffin from “Snowfall,” unfolding inside a rain-soaked car outside an Atlanta hospital where a young man and his ailing father confront their fractured history tied to the neighborhood.
T-Mo explained the group’s connection to the project, saying, “We love how Thomasville puts a spotlight on public housing by incorporating Atlanta’s Thomasville Heights neighborhood. The film’s storytelling aligns with messages we’ve put out through our music for over 30 years, so it means a lot for us to be part of something so special.”
Woodruff, an Atlanta native with deep family roots in Georgia, wrote and directed the film as a personal tribute to his hometown.
“Thomasville is my love letter to Atlanta and my family,” he said. “As an ATLien with deep family roots in Georgia, I’m sparked to write stories that reflect our complex past and present. This film is a major milestone of that journey, and to have Goodie Mob along for this ride is the perfect pairing.”
The director further emphasized the alignment between his vision and the group’s legacy, noting, “Goodie Mob has always held an unflinching mirror up to the City of Atlanta and how it treats its own people. This is the same mission we had for Thomasville.”
Goodie Mob’s move into film production reflects a broader trend of Hip-Hop artists expanding their creative influence beyond music into independent filmmaking and storytelling.
The group helped launch the Dirty South movement and elevated Atlanta to global rap capital status through their socially conscious lyricism and cultural impact.
