Roc Nation Denies Jay-Z Album Rumor, But Look At What They Didn’t Say

Roc Nation says reports that Jay-Z’s mysterious new album is already finished are “Fake news,” but its carefully worded denial leaves another question wide open.

Jay-Z Album Rumors Get Smacked Down By Roc Nation…However…

Jay-Z album rumors just got a very carefully worded reality check from Roc Nation and I am paying close attention to what they did not say.

Podcaster dude Ray Daniels recently stirred up the Hovie Hive when he claimed that Jay’s next album was “completely done.” Speaking as an insider, Daniels says the holdup allegedly involved securing some sort of partnership before releasing the project. I mean, this does not sound radically off base since Jay has done this several times.

That sounded pretty definitive. And yet….when The Roc came in the chat, they slapped Ray’s lil hand.

“‘Album done’ … Fake news,” the company roasted, I mean, posted on Instagram Stories.

Well then! Ray Ray has rebranded himself as both a talker and an insider. However, his hot takes have gotten him in hot water from time to time. Most recently, T.I. skewered him on the bar-b and he blamed AllHipHop for what he said. When The Breakfast Club picked it up, he was basically screwed with T.I. Honestly, I think he is just happy folks are talking about him. Well, does Jay-Z hate him too? I don’t think so, but let’s move on.

Is Jay working on an album? I mean, we all pretty much have heard he’s working. Roc Nation did not say, “Jay-Z is not working on an album.” They did not say there is no new music. They specifically pushed back against the assertion that the album is finished. Well, ok! The goat is working on his masterpiece!

Maybe I have been doing rumors too long, but those distinctions matter! God Bless the PROCESS! Ray said it with his whole breast plate. Being wrong is not a sin so we are going to stay focused here.

Jay has not released a solo studio album since 4:44 in 2017. Beyoncé and Jay followed that with Everything Is Love in 2018, and then he rode heavy with Jay Electronica on 2020’s A Written Testimony, which I consider a classic.

Jay just busted down the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt with three sold out nights at Yankee Stadium. And there’s more: additional performances in Los Angeles and London. Now, Beyoncé added him to the remix of “Morning Dew (Bonk).” People alleged it was AI, but I did not even add that to the rumors, it was that ridiculous.

So, I believe Roc Nation when they say the album is not done. How about almost done?

Until Jay says something, we have no confirmed Jay-Z album.

But Roc Nation’s denial made this rumor even more interesting.
