The Boondocks Writer Carl Jones Unveils New Animated Series At Dream Con

The Boondocks showrunner debuted his new animated series “Intellectual Power,” inspired by Rizza Islam, during an exclusive Dream Con premiere.

Carl Jones, of The Boondocks fam, brought a new animated project to the public for the first time at Dream Con, introducing “Intellectual Power.”

It is a series inspired by the life of activist Rizza Islam and they gave convention attendees an exclusive first look at its world premiere short film.

The project marks Jones’ latest venture into animation following his acclaimed work on The Boondocks, where he served as a producer, writer and showrunner. Over the years, Jones has become one of the most recognizable creative forces behind adult animation, with additional credits including Black Dynamite and The Last O.G.

The “Intellectual Power” short film debuted exclusively during Dream Con before an audience of more than 1,000 attendees, according to recent reports. The series is based on the life and ideas of Rizza Islam.

“Intellectual Power” follows Rizza, an intellectually gifted community leader voiced by Islam. Known for his trademark bow tie and sharp mind, the character discovers his neighborhood is mysteriously disappearing, leading him to uncover what the story portrays as a vast government conspiracy. According to the series’ premise, public housing projects were secretly created as part of an experiment to weaken and control the community. As shape-shifting agents, advanced drones and monstrous creatures close in, Rizza is forced to tap into extraordinary, god-like abilities that could make him the only person capable of saving those around him.

The animated series also features a notable voice cast that blends veteran animation talent with comedians and actors. Alongside Rizza Islam, the lineup includes Carl Jones (The BoondocksBlack Dynamite), John DiMaggio (Futurama), Affion Crockett, Slink Johnson, Corey Holcomb, Jade Novah and animator Ace Vane.

The film will not come to audiences typically. They will be presenting it as a limited series of live events.
