Kid Cudi Set To Melt Faces In First Lead Role

Kid Cudi wraps his first starring role in Adam Egypt Mortimer’s supernatural thriller, pushing his acting to emotional extremes.

Kid Cudi just wrapped his most ambitious acting role yet, and the supernatural thriller he’s been working on is about to change how people see him as a performer.

The rapper and actor completed filming on “Pathetic Fallacy,” an indie horror project from director Adam Egypt Mortimer that also stars Jessica Rothe, Travis Fimmel, and Natasha Lyonne.

This isn’t just another supporting role or cameo for the Cleveland native. This is his first true leading role in a feature film, and according to Deadline, it’s the kind of project that pushed him to places he’s never explored as an actor.

Cudi didn’t hold back when talking about what drew him to the script.

“This script gutted me. I’ve never read anything like it. It’s raw, it’s surreal, it’s heartbreaking, and it’s asking me to go places I’ve never gone as an actor. That’s terrifying and thrilling. I couldn’t walk away from it,” he said.

The film follows a young widower searching for cosmic answers in a new-age mountain town, only to encounter an outlandish murderer and demonic spirits offering a horrific bargain. It’s the kind of material that demands everything from an actor, and Mortimer recognized that commitment immediately.

“This is Cudi’s first starring role and what an honor to witness his deep commitment and courage to push his emotions to the brink,” Mortimer told the outlet. “At the risk of overpromising, Pathetic Fallacy is going to blow minds, melt faces, and empty tear ducts.”

The director isn’t exaggerating about Cudi’s range. Over the past few years, he’s quietly built a serious acting resume that includes appearances in “Don’t Look Up,” “Trap,” and the X trilogy with Ti West, “Happy Gilmore 2,” “Knuckles,” and “Silent Night,” but “Pathetic Fallacy” represents a different level of commitment to the craft.

He’s also been producing through his Mad Solar company, which has become a creative hub for ambitious projects.

The film was shot on 35mm with an original score by synth maestro Johnny Jewel and original songs by Cudi himself. It’s a psychedelic tale of love, death, and loss that feels like nothing else in his filmography.

Cudi’s upcoming animated feature “Slime” opposite Willow Smith shows he’s not slowing down either.
