Drake Takes More Shots At Jay-Z As Roc Nation Beef Intensifies
Published
3 weeks agoon
Drake and Jay-Z’s simmering rivalry gets more intriguing as lyrics, Roc Nation theories, Kendrick Lamar and mysterious talk of “subpoenas” enter the conversation.
Drake is eying a new beef with Jay-Z and Roc Nation. New is really old and it is feeling like a Cold War. Is this unfinished business or talk?
The “Iceman” rapper appeared to toss another pebble at the throne during a Kick livestream. Yeah, I know I am a bit late on this, but it warrant documenting. Saturday, August 8, in the year of our Lord, Drake seemingly kept the temperature warm on a rivalry nobody really cares about. At the same time, we do not know exactly what happened.
DJ Akademiks has floated the theory that trouble dates back to Drake declining to align with Tidal, the streaming platform Jay-Z once controlled. He flipped, making a relationship with Apple Music work for his pockets. That explanation doesn’t work: Drake and Hov collaborated after that.
Enter Kendrick Lamar. This has legs.

Some fans believe Jay-Z and Roc Nation’s involvement with the Super Bowl Halftime Show, had Jay picking a side. He blessed Kendrick with one of the biggest stages imagihaable, having the world call him the “P” to the “D” to the “F.” A lot of people felt that was bad business.
Drake got mollywopped, but he did not retreat when he got himself together.
On “Whisper My Name,” he rapped, “I’ll take $500K, not the dinner, I never could learn sh*t from none of y’all,” seemingly flipping the longstanding viral debate about choosing money or dinner with Jay-Z.
Then “2 Hard 4 The Radio” raised eyebrows considerably higher.
“Damn, y’all was really island hoppin’ back then Huh, now y’all names got redacted Yeah, now a n*gga gotta fact check, what?”
That line referenced online discussion surrounding Jigga’s name appearing in Epstein related records. Jay had no dealings with Eppy Boy. But that does not matter in Rap World.
Jay-Z dismissed Drake surpassing his record for the most No. 1 albums among rappers.
“N#gga, I’m up 10 wrong chart, champ, you gotta look up again N#ggas look up to Hov, I never looked up to them. Them cr@ckers got your publishin’, gangster, go talk tough to them.” In a way, Jay’s got a point. It has been nearly 10 years since his last album.
Now Drake is reportedly mentioning “subpoenas,” and that word changes the flavor of the conversation. Fans have theorized about possible Roc Nation connections to litigation involving Drake, but speculation is not evidence.
Whatever caused this fracture, we may never know.
A Drake and Jay-Z reunion feels about as likely as dinner for $500,000.
