TAMEARTZ Locks In DJ Active, Janet Jackson’s Tour DJ For 6th Annual Hip-Hop In The Park

Philly’s biggest free Hip-Hop festival is back August 8 with DJ AKTIVE, Craig G and Truck North hitting Eakins Oval.

TAMEARTZ is locking in Janet Jackson’s tour DJ to headline the 6th Annual Hip-Hop In The Park at Eakins Oval this August.

The festival returns Saturday, August 8, 2026, running noon to 9 P.M. at Eakins Oval, and admission is free with an RSVP.

DJ AKTIVE takes the top spot this year, and the résumé speaks for itself. The Philadelphia native has toured globally with Kanye West, Nas, Common, John Legend and Janet Jackson, serving as her official tour DJ.

He’s also served as Patti LaBelle’s official tour DJ, which tells you everything about his range.

The MC lineup this year goes deep into Hip-Hop’s roots and legacy. Craig G of the legendary Juice Crew is on the bill, the Queensbridge MC who appeared on Marley Marl’s 1988 classic “The Symphony.”

Craig G also did the behind-the-scenes writing work on the battle sequences in 8 Mile, a fact that doesn’t get nearly enough credit.

Joining him are Outerspace representing Army of the Pharaohs, Goody Gunz, KXNG Charisma and Elemxnt, plus Truck North from the Legendary Roots Crew.

The DJ lineup keeps things moving all day with Mike Nyce, DJ Too Tuff, Bear-One, JS1, Jayski and Nico Oso among those holding it down.

The House Music Hour brings in Legendary DJ Lee Jones and FLYGIRRL, with Ursula Rucker hosting as the spoken word legend she is.

Live graffiti murals are going up throughout the day, with artists coming in from Philly, New York, Florida and beyond to paint Eakins Oval wall to wall.

Virginia-based One Take Studios is making the trip to present a special dance showcase built around Hip-Hop movement and choreography.

The grounds include breaking exhibitions, a three-point contest from No Phly Zone, a vendor marketplace, food trucks and a full beer and liquor garden.

Presented by SNIPES and backed by the Philadelphia 76ers, the Flyers and Red Bull, the support behind this festival shows how far it’s come.

TAMEARTZ is also one of Philadelphia’s most recognized muralists, and he built this festival from scratch.

According to the Philadelphia Tribune, Hip-Hop In The Park grew from a community fundraiser into one of the city’s signature free cultural events.

In his words, “Hip-Hop In The Park is more than a festival, it’s a celebration of our culture, our city, and our community.”
